Do you want your products to play a huge part in the education of millions of children around the globe?
Since founding in 2012 and releasing our first MVP in 2013, our progress has been rapid. Our award-winning products are well known in the UK and have had a significant impact on numerous charitable projects around the world. We have ambitious plans for how we want the Doodle platform to develop over the next few years. You will lead and grow the engineering team – currently seven – in architecting this, and you will work directly with the founders to ensure their future vision becomes a reality.
We have spent the last two years rebuilding our stack for future-proofing and scalability. We make extensive use of AWS, with the bulk of the back-end supporting our dashboards and API developed in PHP and Vue.js, using the Laravel framework. AWS RDS Aurora MySQL is used for our back-end relational database. We use PHPUnit for automated feature testing and our code is maintained in various git repositories via AWS CodeCommit. Our mobile applications are built in Unity. Our stack, along with our extensive customer base, provides us with the solid foundations we require to invest more in research, development and building out our product to further improve our customer offering.
You have at least 5 years’ full-stack software development experience as part of a dynamic team, and some experience in managing a team. You will excel when given responsibility but are equally happy to work independently. You have excellent attention to detail, are keen to learn and can nurture a sense of curiosity in others. You routinely keep abreast of current changes and trends in technology, love of architecting software solutions, and function best as part of a team.
The role will attract a salary of £55-£70k depending on experience, plus share options and pension. We offer 25 days’ holiday per year, and our various perks include gym membership, breakfast and weekly lunches and a car parking space at our fabulous open-plan offices here in the centre of Bath. The role would combine working from the office with an element of working from home.
Here at EZ Education, we have designed our products to support children around the world, from local schools to refugee camps. We know that our customers come from a range of backgrounds and we want our company to truly reflect the diversity that we see among the children who benefit from our technology. We know that we need people with different backgrounds, cultures and experiences to help us best support children’s learning. We strongly encourage applications from any member of the community, but especially BAME candidates and those who are neuro-diverse.
