DoodleLearning Accessibility Statement
This accessibility statement applies to Discovery Education’s DoodleLearning platforms. We want as many people as possible to be able to use our platforms. Our platforms have been developed and designed with accessibility requirements in mind. We’ve also taken on board international guidance and best practice on web accessibility.
Accessible Features
When using the parent dashboards, you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate using a keyboard or speech recognition software
- listen using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
When using the student applications, you should be able to:
- use in-app tools to magnify text and images
- use different input devices to access the apps, e.g. mouse and keyboard, touchscreen
- change the background colour using in-app tools to increase readability
We’ve also made the platforms’ text as simple as possible to understand, and designed the student-facing products with larger touch target sizes and minimum text sizes that support an experience suited to younger users.
Commitment to Accessibility
Discovery Education is deeply committed to ensuring that its products and services are accessible to all students. Accessibility is viewed as an on-going commitment versus a one-time project. Discovery Education has designed a comprehensive plan to ensure digital services are accessible to people with disabilities. Discovery Education is engaged in continuous evaluation of digital products against WCAG 2.2 standard requirements and strives to achieve compliance at the A and AA levels. Discovery Education’s dedicated full-time team of experts are diligently working to comply with these standards. Upon request, Discovery Education can provide copies of VPATs for relevant products.
Non-Compliances
The platforms are partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below:
- we do not offer alternatives to non-text in all instances as many questions rely on images and alt-text would answer the questions themselves
- we do not enable communication and orientation via multiple sensory channels
Full compliance would require a fundamental alteration to the platforms and the services they provide or would represent a disproportionate burden to Discovery Education’s business.
Continual Improvements
We are committed to the continual improvement of the accessibility of our website. We achieve this by doing the following:
- Performing regular accessibility audits
- Speaking with our customers and incorporating their feedback to improve our services
- Keeping up with the latest best practices and evolving standards
