DoodleMaths FAQs

What is DoodleMaths and how does it work for primary schools?

DoodleMaths is a personalised maths programme for ages 4-14, containing over 40,000 interactive exercises that cover every area of the UK maths curriculum (from early number sense and place value, through to fractions, algebra and problem solving). It can be used for homework, in-class consolidation, pre-teaching and targeted intervention.

When a pupil starts, Doodle assesses their current level and creates a unique work programme that targets exactly what they need to practice, advancing as they grow in confidence and filling gaps.

Yes. While Doodle’s automatic programme takes care of daily personalised practice, teachers can also assign specific tasks tied to their current scheme of work.

This means DoodleMaths flexes to complement whatever your school is teaching, rather than running as a separate, disconnected programme.

Yes. DoodleMaths covers the full UK national maths curriculum and uses question styles that mirror the format pupils will encounter in their SATs paper. Rather than just drilling instant recall, DoodleTables helps pupils understand the relationships between numbers so they can answer with confidence under test conditions.

DoodleTables (included within the DoodleMaths subscription) is specifically designed to help children build the deep understanding needed to pass the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check (MTC).

The Teacher Dashboard provides a real-time view of every pupil’s progress, highlighting gaps, tracking improvement over time and flagging pupils who may need additional support. Teachers can also see whether pupils are completing their Doodle consistently, which helps identify engagement issues early.

Data is exportable, making it straightforward to use in Pupil Progress Meetings, for parental reports or to evidence intervention impact to senior leaders and Ofsted. Take a quick tour here, and see how it works for yourself.

The key is consistency, and our “little and often” approach builds long term retention and leads to the strongest results in pupil learning. Just 10 minutes a day is enough time to see effective progress and results.

Yes. DoodleMaths is designed to be inclusive as every child works at their own individual level. Using ProximaTM, our proprietary adaptive algorithm, keeps each child working in their Zone of Proximal Development (this is the sweet spot where learning is challenging but achievable).

If a pupil struggles with a topic, Doodle automatically revisits it with a different approach. If they’re flying, it accelerates to match. No two pupils follow the same programme, meaning mixed-ability classes all get the right level of challenge without the teacher having to differentiate manually.

Yes. DoodleMaths is designed to be inclusive as every child works at their own individual level. Pupils with SEND are never presented with work that is too far beyond their current understanding, and they are never held back by a fixed class pace.

The interactive, visual format of the questions and the positive reward system make DoodleMaths engaging and non-threatening for pupils who find traditional maths lessons difficult. Doodle also has specific resources and guidance for SEND schools which you can view here.

Yes! Schools using DoodleLearning consistently report measurable improvements in confidence, accuracy and curriculum attainment.
