Reading with your 7-year-old is a brilliant way to spend quality time together and inspire their imagination. Books are a great way to ignite your child’s imagination and transport them to new worlds, all while enhancing their love for literature!
With this in mind, here are 5 brilliant books for 7-year-olds to help foster their love of reading and writing.
This incredible book carries a beautiful message about the importance of inclusivity and kindness. It’s the perfect way for parents or teachers to start a great conversation about inclusivity that comes intuitively to children.
The book stars an umbrella at the doorstep on a rainy day. A child takes the umbrella and welcomes a ballerina, an athlete, tall and hairy creatures, a dog, birds and someone in plaid underneath. The umbrella begins to grow as more people take shelter.

This inspiring story follows Ada and her love for science. She wonders, ponders and asks herself some questions. Important things like ‘why are there hairs growing inside our noses?’ and ‘why do roses have pointy things attached?’.
Her inquisitive mind allows her to launch a mission of discovery, as she investigates and conducts scientific research to find her answers!
Finally, this is a charming story about a young girl and her dog. The girl has an incredible idea to make something magnificent, and she already knows how it’ll look and work. It shouldn’t be too hard to make as she makes things all the time! Unfortunately, this is the opposite of easy – as she fails continuously.
Eventually the little girl gets super upset and quits. But her beloved dog convinces her to not give up and to continue. With her new found enthusiasm and passion, she resumes to her project and makes her magnificent creation just right.
