How Doodle's baseline assessment works?
FAQs
A baseline assessment is Doodle's way of determining the most appropriate content for students by identifying gaps in the student's knowledge and ascertaining the level at which the student's confidence begins to drop. This information is used to place the student at the optimal point in the learning programme.
When a student first starts Doodling, they will automatically be led into a baseline assessment. This ensures that they are working at an appropriate level.
Additionally, a teacher can manually enter a student into a new baseline assessment at any time.
Before the assessment, each student will be asked to confirm their age and give a rating for how confident they feel in each subject.
The assessment is split into up to 10 sets of 5 questions and in between each set, they will be asked how they felt about the questions. And not to worry, this won’t feel like a test. These will appear like any other Doodle questions!
After completing the assessment, the student's personalised learning programme will be ready, and their questions from then on will be tailored to their level and areas of understanding.
This will depend on the student, their age and how many sets they are given in the baseline assessment.
Depending on the age and confidence of the student, they will be presented with either 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 sets.
Generally, we would expect one session of a baseline assessment to take between 3-5 minutes to complete.
A baseline assessment does NOT have to be completed in one go and the student may pause between each set.
The baseline assessment's job is to create a learning programme that is perfect for each student's strengths and weaknesses. Because of this, it is best each student works on the assessment by themself.
In the Teacher Dashboard, you can visit the Baseline Assessment page from the Work Programme menu.
This page displays the assessments results and allows you to see at a glance where each student has been placed in the work programme, along with their understanding in each objective or topic.
