Think back to when you were a child. What was your response when your grown ups asked you the famous question: “What do you want to be when you’re older?” It can sometimes be difficult for children to make a connection with the subjects and content they learn at school and how it relates to the big wide world.
It is important that children have opportunities to meet experts doing a wide range of jobs, to motivate and inspire the opportunities that are open to them. This is why we decided to hold our DoodleMaths Developer event at Bath Digital Festival; to inspire children in the world of technology and innovation.
Upon arrival, teams were greeted by the founders of DoodleMaths, where they were invited to enjoy some brain-fuelling snacks and a drink with them before starting the workshop.
Our DoodleMaths experts then kick-started the workshop by sharing their exciting roles within the DoodleMaths company, demonstrating why it is so important to recognise and appreciate how our strengths and personal skills can be brought to a team – as well as finding out some of our DoodleMaths secrets!
Whilst planning and designing their DoodleGames, each team was allocated a DoodleMaths team member but were able to spend five minutes with our chief programmer and graphic designer to ask for their top tips. Once the time was up, teams were brought together and gave their DoodleGame pitch to the rest of the teams and our judges.
